Law Firm

To see how the judicial system works in Ghana. Interns will be working closely with one of the top young lawyers in Ghana in his Law Firm. This will give them a chance to attend court sessions, sit in for court cases and get a 1st hand view as to how the judicial system works in Ghana. The law firm deals with many cases, be it divorce, land disputes, theft, battery, violence, etc.
REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers

Minimum Age

Volunteer
18
18 years of age is the minimum age set for volunteering in all projects

Language skills – a knowledgeable understanding of the English language is required.
Volunteering and internship opportunities are open to people and students from all over the world
Volunteers and interns can stay for as little as a week or as long as a year. Extension of your stay can be during your stay in Ghana – for visa reasons.
Criminal record certificate are needed
Yellow fever vaccinations are required, more vaccinations are recommended.

Visa. We support interns and volunteers apply for their visa by providing them with the necessary documents needed for the visa application process.

Arrival

Volunteers

Airport Pickup

Upon arrival at the Kotoka International airport in Accra, you will be picked up by a member of our team in his RisingSuns t-shirt. Please look out for the member of our team in his t-shirt. He will be right at the exit of the airport.

To Home

You will then be transported to the RisingSun volunteer house, where you will reside during the entirety of your stay in Ghana.

Welcome

A SIM card will be issued upon arrival in the house, which will have to returned to the team upon completion of your time in Ghana. A bottle of water will be given, as is customary in Ghana when visitors arrive in your accommodation for the first time.

Room

You will be ushered into your room, and shown your bed. There will be a tour of the house , an introduction to the other members of the team and also meet the other volunteers in the house.

Orientation

Your orientation program will begin the morning after your arrival. During the program, you will be given a brief history of Ghana, a guided tour of your new neighbourhood, basic knowledge lesson in twi (the most widely spoken language in Ghana) , you will go through some do’s and don’ts in Ghanaian culture and tradition and you will be taken on a city tour. The orientation program lasts 2 days.
