English is spoken by all educated people. The main dialects are Fanti, Twi, Akwapim, Akim and Brong. Twi is very common in Accra. It is advisable to learn a few sentences for a short conversation, as some children in projects do not speak English very well and Ghanaians are generally incredibly happy if you greet them in their language.
Ghanaians are extremely musical and enjoy singing, dancing and drumming. There are special songs for almost every occasion. Family has a high importance in Ghanaian culture. The more offspring someone has, the more respect and security awaits him or her in old age.
